Environmental Design Advice

LEDA Engineers work closely with architects to improve the energy efficiency and built environment by:

Assisting the architectural team to:

  • maximise the use of passive solar energy in the building form
  • maximise natural ventilation in the building form
  • achieve high air tightness standard
  • carry out calculations to determine daylight levels, solar gain, infiltration ventilation rates and peak temperatures
  • Advise clients on energy efficient lighting and equipment - again vital to ensure overall efficiency of buildings in use

LEDA is able to obtain funding from the Carbon Trust for providing design advice on larger projects, and has the experience and specialist knowledge within the team to carry out sustainable feasibility assessments for major developments. This is a service that can be valuable for clients requiring evidence of sustainable design in order to obtain planning consent for a scheme.
