A Chartered building services engineer, Matthew Hill has mechanical and electrical design experience of a wide range of buildings and has extensive knowledge of all aspects of low energy design. Other areas of practical expertise include water recycling, renewable energy generation and conducting energy audits of buildings.

Matthew is a consultant for the Carbon Trust's "Design Advice" scheme and regularly provides environmental advice to design teams, developers and local authorities on sustainable design issues. He is also an approved home energy-rating assessor and has a working knowledge of various versions of BREEAM (the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method).

Matthew entered the design profession after a number of years running a local building renovation company, which has made him very aware of buildability issues in design.

Matthew is also the chairman of the Built Environment Group - Leeds Climate Change Strategy
