Evaluations of existing buildings

At LEDA the services we offer in this area can be described as post-occupancy evaluation (POE) and building performance evaluation (BPE).

Post-Occupancy Evaluation usually involves revisiting a recently completed development, looking at how it was delivered and its performance since handover. We report back to the client and wider project team (if applicable) how the building is performing and how that compares to design. We also provide, where needed, recommendations on ways to improve how the building functions.

Building Performance Evaluation is similar but would take place at any stage in a building’s life. We carry out walk-throughs to inspect the building fabric and building services and where possible ask the people who use the building about the impact of how it functions on their daily lives.

Both styles of evaluation are applicable to a wide range of projects and buildings, and can be at any level from simple condition surveys and energy audits to in-depth forensic studies as part of expert witness services. We have worked on various buildings from science parks to local housing developments to mixed use buildings.
