Homebaked, Liverpool

Homebaked Community Land Trust (CLT) is co-owned by people who live and work in the area,  just opposite Liverpool Football Club. The trust also provides a home for the Homebaked bakery, a community-run business. For over ten years Homebaked have worked to save their legendary neighbourhood bakery from demolition and develop it, to house the bakery and provide affordable residential accommodation.

In autumn 2018 the CLT invited URBED and LEDA to work with them in developing plans for the next phase of their project, refurbishing the terrace of houses next to the bakery as part of longer-term aims to regenerate the local high street. Using a participatory process – working with the CLT board, Homebaked stakeholders and local people – we are creating super low energy, sustainable and affordable homes from the existing derelict housing stock. The finished buildings should provide comfortable, warm and light-filled space that is environmentally responsible.
